About me: Shahnaz (Akal Amrit Kaur)
Shahnaz studied Kundalini Yoga with Guru Dharam and Darryl O’Keefe obtaining a K1 Kundalini Yoga Instructor qualification, licensed by KRI Kundalini Research Institute of the USA. Her special interests lie in the effects of Kundalini Yoga and Gong meditation on mental health and well-being.
Shahnaz is a heart centric teacher and has created a warm and supportive community sharing the teachings Kundalini Yoga in West London. Her students range in age, flexibility and experience and the instruction is provided to suit the abilities of each individual. Shahnaz believes that the classes go beyond what is practiced with the group, often sharing the meditations and techniques with the participants in order for them to develop their own self practice. The breathing techniques learnt in her classes can be used to combat every day stressors which exist in modern lifestyles.
Kundalini Yoga branch of Yogi Bhajan’s teachings, is also called the yoga of awareness. This is an experiential style of yoga which is transformative in every aspect of life, bringing balance to the lives of practitioners. You become aware of your breath, mind, body and higher self and feel grounded and more resilient.
Shahnaz is able to design the classes to meet the needs of her students and their areas of interest including digestion, anxiety and stress.
Fully moon gong meditations are beneficial for those who find it difficult to relax experiencing mind chatter and distractions whilst trying to meditate and/or focus their minds. Gong baths form part of a sound healing experience transporting you to beyond time and space. Chanting and singing raise our vibration and aide in better communication skills.
Shahnaz has seen the benefits of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, through her daily practice, first hand and continues to witness the positive affects of the teachings on her students. She continues to study with inspiring teachers such as Guru Rattana and Gurumukh.
Shahnaz is an Art consultant for a property investment firm and has designed Yoga Art workshops which are a fun and insightful form of meditation and self expression.
